However in order to register, applicants must provide certain supporting information and those who are not situated in Ireland must demonstrate a real and substantive connection with Ireland (with the exception of those applying by means of Community Trademark).
Applicants authorized to register an .IE domain are:
- be an Irish citizen or resident (individual) registering his own personal name, or
- be an incorporated company registering its corporate name, or
- have a registered trademark, or
- be a sole trader, company or unincorporated association who hold a registered business name
